Tradition at it’s best

Vestavia Hillls takes pride in who we are.  Our city abounds with history, beautiful landscaping, and welcoming residents.  Not only do we take pride in our city but in our country. Vestavia Hills Chamber of Commerce created the I Love America Summer Celebration Series in 1982. Vestavia Hills Chamber of Commerce was founded by local business owners, officials and merchants who were interested in fostering local businesses. In turn, I Love America was founded one year later to be a summer celebration of patriotism, promotion of local businesses and a time for families to gather.  Over the 32 years of I Love America Vestavia Hills has included a wide variety of events ranging from: showcasing military tanks, soaring skydivers, the Vestavia Belles, magicians, a petting zoo, pony rides, homemade bbq, pops in the park, and even an Elvis impersonation; we have see it all.

This past month the Chamber partook in the 32nd Annual I Love American Summer Celebration Series. Although it was postponed on July 3 due to storm watch, we had the event July 12 without a cloud in the sky. This year’s event followed in the footsteps of the many years past: a fun and exciting experience for the entire family. The baseball field at Wald Park was lined with two rows of tents that showcased different local businesses. Our sponsors treated the attendees with free servings of popcorn, Bruster’s ice cream and even Honey Baked Ham. Vestavia Hills Police and the Chamber of Commerce booth proved to be one of the kid’s favorite with badges, glow sticks and temporary tattoos.  While Shades Mountain Air gave a delightful show, families were able to participate in free swimming and children’s activities. As the sun went down and as the glow sticks cracked Madagascar 3 aired on the big screen in the middle of the park. I Love America continues to go down as one of the most highly anticipated summer events Vestavia Hills has to offer.

Special thanks to everyone and anyone who helped set up, tear down, and spent countless hours planning. Vestavia Hills Chamber of Commerce is nothing without the local businesses and people with which we get to work alongside!
